Our Standard
20 points, four things
No weighting tricks. The ranking is the sum of these four scores and nothing else.
up to 8
How many specialists
Board-certified specialists registered with HIRA. One point each, capped at 8.
up to 4
Are the right fields there
Oral surgery and prosthodontics for implants; orthodontics for braces; prosthodontics for crowns.
up to 4
Is there a cone-beam CT
The 3D diagnostic scanner. 2 points for one unit, 4 for two or more.
up to 4
Has a review sample built up
Naver visitor reviews — 1 point at 100, rising to 4 at 3,000.
The caps exist for one reason: so a large hospital cannot own the ranking on a single column. Ties break on visitor reviews, then specialist count, then years open.
How we compare
This is what the comparison looks like
Below are the top five rows lifted straight from the Gangnam-gu, Seoul implant table. Each area page shows all ten clinics with every sub-score.
| # | Clinic | Specialist count | Relevant fields | Cone-beam CT | Visitor reviews | Total | Specialists | CT units | Naver reviews |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Process
How it gets built
01
Pull the public records
Specialists, cone-beam CT units, treatment fields and opening dates, gathered per clinic from HIRA.
02
Cross-check reviews
Naver Place visitor review counts, checked weekly.
03
Verify the join
Only records whose institution identifier matches are kept; anything unverified is left blank rather than guessed.
04
Republish every week
Review counts and registrations are recollected weekly and the ranking recalculated. If the arithmetic check fails, publication stops.

FAQ
Questions people ask about TODAY DENTAL
What does this site do?
It compares dental clinics area by area — implants, orthodontics and crowns/prosthodontics — by cross-checking specialist and equipment records published by Korea's Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) against Naver visitor reviews. We do not visit clinics to assess them, and we do not accept material from them.
How is the score calculated?
Out of 20: how many specialists are registered (up to 8), whether the fields relevant to the treatment are present (up to 4), how many cone-beam CT units there are (up to 4), and how large the Naver visitor review sample is (up to 4). All the raw values are on the page, so anyone can recalculate.
Is this a ranking of who treats patients best?
No. It ranks how much published evidence can be verified. It does not measure clinical skill, surgical outcomes or patient satisfaction, and the right clinic depends on your own condition.
Can a clinic pay to move up?
No. The order comes only from the published scoring method, and an automated check before publication blocks release if the printed scores and a fresh recalculation disagree. We have no partnership with any clinic.
Is there such a thing as an implant specialist?
Not as a standalone certification. Placement and restoration are often divided between specialists such as oral and maxillofacial surgeons and prosthodontists, so we use the number of registered specialists per field as a reference point.
Why does the cone-beam CT matter?
A cone-beam CT is the 3D scanner used to check bone thickness and nerve canal position before planning where an implant goes. It bears directly on diagnostic accuracy for anything placed into bone, and whether a clinic has one — and how many — is on the HIRA record.
What is judged differently for orthodontic clinics?
For orthodontics, whether a registered orthodontist is on staff is the key published signal, so it carries the largest weight (up to 8 points), alongside overall specialist count, cone-beam CT and visitor reviews.
And for crowns and prosthodontics?
Crowns, bridges and dentures belong to prosthodontics. So that comparison puts the largest weight on registered prosthodontists (up to 8 points), alongside overall specialist count, cone-beam CT and visitor reviews.
Does a high review count mean a better clinic?
No — it means more visit experience has accumulated. Blog posts can be written without ever visiting, so they are excluded from the score; only visitor reviews tied to a recorded visit count.
Why are there no prices?
Implant, orthodontic and prosthodontic costs split across examinations, bone grafts, appliance types and restoration materials, so no public record can settle them. Confirm what is included and excluded in writing at the consultation — we publish a guide on reading that breakdown.
What if the information does not match reality?
Specialists and equipment are taken exactly as the clinic filed them with HIRA, so the filing date and today can differ. The collection period is printed at the bottom of every page, and we recommend calling before you visit.
Which areas are covered?
25 districts of Seoul and 16 districts of Busan, with more being added. Within each area you can compare implants, orthodontics and crowns/prosthodontics separately.
Where does the data come from?
Specialist counts and fields, cone-beam CT units, opening dates and facility category come from HIRA open data; visitor and blog review counts come from Naver Place. The full sources and scoring method are published on the data sources page.
