Checklist
Implant consultation checklist
Made to be taken into the consultation room and crossed off item by item. Print it, or read from the screen and ask straight through.
- 1
List your medications
Have the names of any osteoporosis drugs, anticoagulants and the rest ready as a photo or a note. They bear directly on the surgical plan.
- 2
Ask about diagnosis
"What do you examine before you make the placement plan?" Establish whether three-dimensional imaging such as a cone-beam CT is involved.
- 3
Ask how a graft is judged
"How do you decide whether a bone graft is needed, and if it is, what extent and what cost range?"
- 4
Confirm who operates
Get the name of the dentist placing the implant, and the name of the one doing the restoration.
- 5
Request an itemised estimate
Ask for a written estimate split into examination, placement, bone graft, temporary crown, final restoration and warranty.
- 6
Ask what can add cost
Get the list of situations that can increase the bill mid-treatment — a larger graft, a sinus lift and so on.
- 7
Confirm the schedule
Total duration, number of visits, and the intervals between stages.
- 8
Read the warranty terms
Length and scope for the fixture and the restoration separately, whether keeping check-ups is a condition, and what happens if another clinic treats it.
- 9
Establish the aftercare channel
How to reach the clinic if something feels wrong after surgery, and what counts as urgent.
- 10
Decide after comparing
Walk out with the estimate and compare at least one other clinic before deciding. There is no reason to pay the same day.
